Course Description & Methodology
The Cello courses at ICM offer a comprehensive, tailored educational path designed for both passionate students seeking artistic enrichment and advanced musicians preparing for European and Italian Conservatory admission exams for Bachelor’s/ Master’s programs (Triennio/ Biennio) and professional auditions.
The student is guided in technical preparation and musical interpretation. The pathway includes harmonic awareness and historical perspective, together with the strengthening of the performer’s artistic profile.
While in Pathway I the program is flexible, and students can choose some favourite pieces, in Pathway II the study program is primarily focused on the goal of preparing the admission exam for a bachelor’s or master’s programs, adding the prescribed technical studies to the repertoire pieces.
Audio bases are available to support better training in pieces and improvisation.

Giovanna Barbati
Giovanna Barbati is a cellist and viola da gamba player, specializing in baroque music. She frequently appears as a soloist, plays her own music and improvisations, and has given the first performances of several works for solo cello.
