Adrian Dwight Griffin
International orchestral musician and trumpet soloist Adrian Griffin is enjoying a vivid and busy career. Prior to his appointment of principal trumpet with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Monterrey, Adrian has held positions as principal trumpet with the Filarmonica de Jalisco, co-principal trumpet with the Orquesta and fourth/utility trumpet with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. As well, Adrian held the position of Professor of Trumpet at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Currently, Adrian is principal trumpet with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Monterrey located in Monterrey, Mexico. He also appeared in the 2011 Pan American Games in the Inaugural Ceremonies.
As a clinician, Adrian has appeared at such events as The Texas Band Masters Convention, The Texas Music Educators Association, The Iowa Music Educators Association, The New Jersey Music Educators Association, and presented masterclasses and clinics throughout Mexico.
Adrian has appeared with such organizations and conductors and soloists such as: Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Ballet and Opera, St. Petersburg Ballet, Ballet Monterrey, Jalisco Philharmonic, Sinfonica Minería, Mexico City Philharmonic, Orquesta Sinfónica Sinaloa de las Artes, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, 2011 Pan American Games, Jesus Medina, Keith Lockhart, Jesus Lobos Cobos, Eduardo DiezMuñoz, Alondra de la Parra, JoAnne Falletta, Leslie Dunner, Enrique Bátiz, Jorge Mester, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Ray Charles, Eduardo Gamboa, Sarah Brightman, Hillary Hahn, Sara Chang, Joshua Bell, Gil Shaham, Mstislav Rostropovich, Wynton Marsalis, James Earl Jones and many others.
Adrian has published more than a 25 articles with the Instrumentalist Magazine and is an ongoing contributor to this day. In 2012, Adrian finished his greatest literary accomplishment; a book entitled Buzz to Brilliance, published by Oxford University Press and has sold 1000’s of copies worldwide as well as presented as a text book in many music schools and universities.
